Note of interest: The first major battle of the
Civil War was fought in Wilmer McLean's front yard. It raged
across his property near Bull Run Creek in Manassas Junction, Virginia.
In 1863 McLean moved to Appomattox Court House in an attempt to flee the
war. Little did he know that the war would end in his parlor--two
